The Authority’s Education Program is designed to work with students and teachers throughout the region to educate them on the issues of water and water conservation. This is accomplished through classroom and school presentations, educational materials, teacher workshops, and teacher field trips. Teachers interested in learning more about the Authority's education programs should contact the Authority’s Education Department.
Middle School Curriculum
The Edwards Aquifer – Understand, Conserve, Protect is a middle school instructional program correlated to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Program materials include a student book containing full-color photos, illustrations, diagrams, maps and charts, plus a teacher’s guide offering chapter discussion questions, student activities, chapter quizzes, and program assessments. The materials are designed specifically to help teach students about the Edwards Aquifer system, water conservation, and the importance of the aquifer as our region’s primary water resource.

A Journey Through the Edwards Aquifer (grades 1-5)
Using a combination of live footage and animation, this video introduces young viewers to a new and unfamiliar world – groundwater. Animated characters Sal the Salamander and Teddy the Horned Toad take us on an exciting groundwater adventure as they leave the hot dry climate of Brackettville in West Texas and travel to Sal's home in San Marcos through the Edwards Aquifer, learning important hydraulic concepts along the way. (12 minutes)
The Edwards Aquifer, a Texas Treasure (grades 6 to adult)
This video is designed to be an entertaining and informative means to show the value of the Edwards Aquifer. Geological make-up, size, location, manner of recharging, threats of depletion, and pollution are discussed. (19 minutes)
Inside the Edwards Aquifer (grades 9 to adult)
Using great detail, this video describes the origin of the aquifer and uses computer animation sequences to explain groundwater flow path. It addresses the technical dynamics of the aquifer's hydrology and geology. Several aspects of recharge are discussed. (School version – (3 parts) 55 minutes, Adult version – 30 minutes)
