Groundwater Permits

The EAA manages groundwater withdrawals from the aquifer for all conditions and levels.  Appropriate management strategies are designed to complement the natural system while optimizing beneficial use of the aquifer across the entire region.  These strategies include water conservation incentive programs, critical period (drought management) stages, and an initiative to analyze the effects of groundwater withdrawal permit transfers.  Access to applications, to report your usage, and to submit your Groundwater Management Plan are located in this section.

Well Owner Permits

In order to protect our groundwater, the EAA has developed appropriate standards designed to prevent contaminants from reaching the aquifer through wells that are improperly constructed or maintained, neglected, abandoned, or located dangerously close to contamination sources. Additionally, state law requires all wells, regardless of their age, that withdraw water from the Edwards Aquifer to be registered with the EAA.  Access to helpful information as well as forms for well registration, well construction or plugging permits can be found in this section.
