Well J-27 (J-27) is the official Edwards Aquifer water level index well for Uvalde County. Automated equipment in J-27 collects water level data which is reported on the EAA web page. Due to recent repairs to J-27, representative water level data from J-27 may not always be available due to the periodic influence of nearby pumping wells. If a representative water level reading cannot be obtained from J-27 for an entire 24-hour daily reporting period, the representative daily high water level will be obtained from a nearby monitoring well having a very high water level correlation with J-27. If arepresentative daily high water level is obtained from a nearby monitoring well, that daily high is referred to as the imputed J-27 water level. To ensure that thepublic is able to view representative water level data, the daily high water level will be reported on the EAA web page.
The EAA is soley responsible for obtaining and reporting water level readings from J-27. The EAA uses this information to determine when critical period management (drought management) pumping restrictions are required for the Edwards Aquifer in Uvalde County.
