EAA Education Outreach Center at Morgan’s Wonderland Camp
The EAA has a long-standing commitment to education and outreach aimed at raising awareness regarding the importance of the Edwards Aquifer. The opportunity to elevate this aspect of the EAA’s mission, through a partnership with Morgan’s Wonderland Camp, could allow staff to reach a larger and more diverse audience than historically possible.
As part of the Morgan’s Wonderland Camp offering, the EAA proposes to operate its first permanent facility dedicated exclusively to offering educational instruction and activities for guests of the Camp daily throughout the year. In addition to permanent and rotating interactive exhibit housed in an Aquifer Cave setting, the Education & Public Outreach Center would receive live-streamed data generated by the nearby Field Research Observatory and utilize it in daily education presentations. Visitors and participants would literally be given the opportunity to engage in and analyze the research being generated. Water monitoring wells, rainwater harvesting and an expanded covered porch area for facilitating outreach efforts would also be part of the Center itself. And land demonstration areas immediately adjacent to the Center will demonstrate the efforts being undertaken at the Field Research Observatory.
The $2.5 million EAA Education Outreach Center will encompass 3,500 square feet and feature unique learning experiences that will broaden imaginations through participation in innovative STEM opportunities with an inclusive mindset. The EAA Education Program strives to educate and inform minds – because with the minds of many, great things are possible! For the next 25 years the EAA pledges to serve more students and have a positive impact throughout the region. A permanent location for a dedicated EAA Education Outreach Center at Morgan’s Wonderland Camp will give the EAA a platform to educate up to 500 students per day.
